“Qualifying” is a registration category with the CRPO. I have completed my graduate training and am authorized to practise psychotherapy in Ontario, and I receive ongoing clinical supervision as I work toward the Autonomous Practice category.

I believe mental health supports every other area of life. When we are mentally and emotionally well, we are better able to face challenges, connect with others, and make choices that reflect the life we want to build.

However, we are often guided by automatic reactions shaped by what we have lived through and what we learned to do in order to cope. Some of these patterns may have once helped us, but over time, they can begin to interfere with our relationships, our decisions, and the way we see ourselves.

My approach to therapy is active and depth-oriented. Together, we work to identify what is maintaining the difficulties you are experiencing in the present and where those responses may have developed. From there, we work with what is underlying those difficulties so that the past does not continue to shape the present in the same way.

My therapeutic approach is integrative. I draw from different evidence-informed approaches depending on what we are working on and what is needed at different stages of therapy. At times, this may include developing resources to support stability and emotional regulation; at others, the work may focus more deeply on the experiences and patterns underlying current difficulties. The aim is not simply to manage what you are feeling, but to create meaningful change in the ways you experience and respond to yourself, your emotions, and your relationships.

I was born in Cuba and lived there until I was 14; I’ve lived in Canada ever since. I’m an immigrant, a wife and a mother, and I know what it’s like to navigate between two cultures without fully belonging to either. That experience informs how I work with my Hispanic and Latino clients.

That said, all people are welcome here, no matter where you come from.

Usually weekly at first, spacing out as you progress. You set the pace.

Fees

What each session costs

Right now, 60-minute individual therapy has an accessible rate of $135 (see details). Extended and couples sessions have other rates, which you can see when booking, and I offer an optional free 20-minute consultation, if you’d like one. I also offer a sliding scale (reduced-fee) option.

Book your free consultation

I offer a sliding scale (reduced-fee) option. If cost is what’s holding you back, book a free consultation and we’ll look at it together.

I offer direct billing to Sun Life, GreenShield (including Médic Construction) and SSQ (Beneva). For other insurers, I provide a receipt with my CRPO registration number for you to submit for reimbursement, and I’ll be adding direct billing with more insurers gradually. Most Ontario benefit plans cover psychotherapy, though coverage varies by policy, so it’s worth confirming the details with your provider.

This might sound familiar

You don't have to be in crisis to need support.

  • You function fine on the outside and you're exhausted underneath.
  • You moved here and still don’t know where to put what you left behind.
  • Anxiety wakes you before your alarm does.
  • You carry your family and nobody asks how you're doing.
  • You keep repeating the same relationship with a different person.
  • You’ve tried therapy before and something wasn’t clicking.

Frequently asked

What almost everyone asks

Are sessions online?

Yes, every session is by video. I can see anyone located in Ontario, from wherever they are: no commute, no parking. Just a quiet place and an uninterrupted hour.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What we discuss stays between us, with the exceptions Ontario law requires me to observe: serious risk to you or someone else, suspected harm to a child, and a court order. I go over this in detail in the first session.

My child is a minor. How does it work?

I see clients from age 9. The therapy belongs to the child or teen, and their trust is what makes it work, so what is said in session is not reported back. I keep parents informed about how the process is going, and I call them when there is something they need to know for safety reasons.

Who gives consent for a minor?

Ontario sets no fixed minimum age for consenting to treatment: the law looks at whether the person understands what it involves and what accepting or refusing it means. I assess this at the start in every case. We go over this clearly before beginning, so no one is left guessing.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you bring and what you're after. Some people work through something specific in eight or ten sessions; others stay longer. We review it together periodically and you decide.

Can I switch languages during a session?

Of course, and it's more common than you'd think. Some things only come out in one language. You don't have to choose.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. Psychotherapists in Ontario don't prescribe. If you're wondering whether medication could help, that's a conversation to have with your family doctor or a psychiatrist. With your consent, I'm happy to collaborate with them as part of your care.
