The Centered Practice Psychotherapy and Counselling

Therapy for Emotional Regulation

Some people don’t struggle with feeling too little — they struggle with feeling too much, too fast, with not much room to think in between the trigger and the reaction.

What it can look like

Intense reactions that feel disproportionate once they’ve passed. Outbursts of anger or crying you don’t fully understand afterward. Trouble calming down once you’re activated. Feeling like your emotions are running the show rather than the other way around. Regret or shame after reacting strongly.

How therapy can help

We work on recognizing the build-up before the reaction, widening the gap between trigger and response, and building concrete tools for calming your nervous system in the moment — alongside understanding why your reactions are wired the way they are.

My approach

This work combines practical, skills-based tools with a deeper look at what’s underneath the intensity. Online sessions, English or Spanish, for anyone in Ontario, ages 9 and up.

Want to go deeper than a technique?

If these techniques help but you feel like you need more, I'd be glad to talk. I offer online individual and couples therapy, in English and Spanish, across the province of Ontario.
